Welcome to New York

Last week I found my new favourite city, sorry Rome, my heart is now with New York. This is the first time I have every visited the city and it really is as good a it looks in the movies. I had planned and researched quite a few things before I left for my trip but I ended up seeing so much more then I expected.

Taking It All In
If you have never been to New York before then I think the best way to take in the whole city is from above. The first thing on our check list was to see the view from the Top Of The Rock and it didn't disappoint. With three viewing decks you get an amazing 360 view of the Manhattan skyline.

Another place you absolutely have to visit is Central Park, it feels like a sanctuary from the busy city streets. With acres of grass, lakes and ponds there is plenty of space to take a few minutes out of your day and sit and relax.

If you're anything like me when you go to a new city you'll want to see everything you can, I think the only way to do this is to just grab yourself a map and start walking. I like to highlight key places to visit on the map and then just walk around. I find that you stumble across some of the most beautiful places when you don't have any specific plans.

Grabbing A Bite
There are so many places to grab a bite in New York from local deli's to silver service dining. Here are just a few places we visited and would highly recommend.
Tony's Di Napoli - Family style Italian, perfect for it you fancy a big bowl of pasta.
HB Burger - Relaxed beer and burger restaurant where you can sit back relax and watch some sport.
Sarabeth's Restaurant - We had the most delicious brunch here, I would highly recommend the french toast and pancakes.
Serendipity 3 - Known for its world famous Frozen Hot Chocolate!
Rubirosa Pizza - Tucked away in Lower Manhattan Rubirosa has some of the tastiest pizza outside of Italy.
Brooklyn Diner - Very busy in the morning with prework commuters but has a lovely small town diner vibe and the breakfast is amazing.
The Smith - A trendy restaurant which does delicious breakfast potatoes.

Try Something Different
If you have never been to a baseball game before I would highly recommend getting tickets to a game. Even if your not a sports fan you will love the atmosphere and entertainment. We headed over to Queens, to Citi Field and watched the Mets vs Cubs. We had a great time at the game and one of the highlights was the amazing view of Manhattan from the ground. The food was pretty good as well.

I have well and truly fallen in love with New York and can't wait to go back. I think next time I'll head to the city around Christmas time so I totally new set of sights.

Till next time New York, I love you!
