This super speedy sundae sauce is one of the most popular desserts in my house. As soon as my brother sees me preparing this he is asks for a sundae straight away. It only takes about 5 minutes to whip up and it tastes delicious. It's not only good on ice cream though, add it on top of a simple sponge and you have a gooey chocolate dessert. It can be made ahead of time then reheated but always tastes best made fresh.
For this chocolate fudge sundae sauce all you need is two ingredients:
1 bar of dark chocolate (200g)
1 tin of condensed milk (397g)
Break up the chocolate and gently melt in a saucepan. Once melted add the whole tin of condensed milk and slowly incorporate into melted chocolate. Make sure you keep the heat low and stir constantly so that the sauce doesn't catch on the pan.
Top tip: When whipping cream for your ice cream sundae add half tsp of vanilla paste for an extra hit of flavour.
Now all you have to do is assemble, scoop your favourite ice-cream into a bowl and load it up with your warm sauce, whipped cream and I like to top it off with mini marshmallows.
It's a good idea to let your sauce cool down a little so that it doesn't melt your ice cream straight away (as you can see from this photo I didn't wait long enough).
