Bobbie Brown Blush Review

This is the first Bobbie Brown Shimmer Blush is the first Bobbie Brown product I have ever owned. Over the past two weeks I have been wearing this blush everyday and it has quickly become a firm favourite of mine.

This is a highly pigmented blush with a cool undertone and although it says it's a shimmer blush it won't leave you looking like a disco ball. It has a very fine gold shimmer running through the blush so you never get left with big chunks of glitter on your cheeks.

I have pale skin and find when applied lightly this blush gives me a lovely natural flush of colour to my cheeks. I tend to mix up my base foundation quite a lot and this blush looks just as good sitting on top of a cream foundation as it does on a powder foundation base.

My Little Box - Energy Box

This months my little box was all about Energy and encouraging you to get an energy boost in your life. I think this is a great idea for a box as it is sometimes hard to stay motivated once you're reaching the end of January. Once of my new years resolutions was to try and be more active and this box has given me that extra little push.

The box contained its standard bits of the My Little World magazine, a cute print (not photographed) and the little bag of three beauty bits. The bonus items this month included a foldaway gym bag and a little wall calendar.

The three beauty bits in this months box were Talika Photo-Hydra Day Cream, a Nails Inc nail varnish in Tate and the My Little Beauty product this month is a Energising Face and Body Spray.

I haven't heard of the brand Talika before so I am looking forward to trying out this day cream. The tube says "Much more than a moisturiser Photo-Hydra Day is the 1st cream to use energy from natural light to develop deep into skin and moisturise it." It sounds like this is a really good product to give the skin a much needed moisture boost, so I will definitely be giving it a go when my skin is feeling dry and tight.

Nails Inc is always sample I am happy to receive as I know that the product is going to be great quality. Its also always nice to receive a bottle thats full sized because I find there is nothing worse then falling in love with a nail polish colour and running out of the tiny sample.

My Little Beauty has proven to be a great range and I have been really impressed with the products I have previously received. This refreshing mist is packed with vitamin C and a few sprays on the face in the morning gives a real boost for the day. It has a light zesty scent which is really uplifting and if your not a morning person, this may be just what you need to get moving.

Overall I liked this box however I don't think it is the best one I have received. Im looking forward to trying out the Beauty bits but I don't think I will get much use out of the gym bag (I've actually given it to my mum) but this is only because I already have one. The actual bag is pretty good quality however it is on the small size.

I'm looking forward to receiving February's My Little Box and seeing what it has to offer. I think the theme for February's is French style which will hopefully be a good one!

Valentines Gift Ideas For Her

Find the perfect Valentines gift for the lady in your life. Whether you have a big budget or none at all here are some suggestions on how to make this year the best Valentines ever.

Bake It Yourself

If you don't have a big budget this year and want to do something for the lady you love why not show her how much she means to you with some home baked treats. These crispy cakes are a simple but totally cute way to show your love.

Simply melt some marshmallows with a little butter, stir in some rice crispies and press into a greased/lined baking tray. Once they have set cut out heart shapes and dip the treats in pink icing (or coloured white chocolate for something extra special) then decorate with sprinkles.

Be Crafty

If your on a tighter budget but can't bake then why not do a little DIY gift this year. Buy a nice frame and make your own print to go inside. This would also be fun to do as a family on Valentines day.

Say It With a Movie

With so many romantic classics out there you'll be able to find the perfect movie to express your feelings to your loved one. I think there is nothing better then snuggling up on a cold February Saturday for a movie marathon.

For Something Extra Special

You can never go wrong with a Mulberry handbag and whoever the lucky girl is that receives this beautiful Mini Lily bag will remember you forever.

Adding A Little Sparkle

Tiffany - Circlet Ring £3,900
It may seem cheesy but why not go all out this year a give your girl some diamonds? They are a girls best friend after all. I really love this beautiful Tiffany ring which has an almost vintage 1920s design.

February Wish List

I currently use Benefit's version of this cream shadow base and really like it, but I've heard good things about the MAC Paint Pops and want to give them a go. As I have pale skin I think the shade Chilled On Ice will be a great base for any eyeshadow colour, whilst also giving a hint of shimmer to my eyelids.

This is a light gel textured highlighter which gives your check bones a gentle shimmer. I have seen this being used by Gabby on her YouTube channel and she has made me want to get my hands on it. I find that powder highlighters tend to wear off quite quickly on my skin so I'm hoping that this gel based one will last all day without fading.

This is a cult product for any blogger or YouTuber but not one I have tried yet. I have never been one to splurge on high end concealers, I tend to favour drug store ones as I don't suffer to badly from undereye circles or spots. However my skin has been really dry recently and the concealer I currently use just highlights the dry patches. I am hoping that this NARS concealer will be more hydrating for my skin.

These gorgeous brushes are the latest release in the Real Techniques brush collection. As soon as they were released my twitter feed was flooded with reviews on them and it has really made me want to try them out myself. To buy all the brushes is pretty expensive so I may have to buy one at a time. The ones I have been drawn to the most as the Luxury Appeal face brush and the Oval Shadow eyeshadow brush.

I have recently been given a load of depotted eyeshadows and I need somewhere to safely store them. A Z Palette will be ideal as I can add or remove as many shadows as I want. They are also great when  the eyeshadows/blushes you need to store are in different sized trays because there are no holes the have to fit directly into.

Are beauty advent calendars worth the money?

This year was the first time I had ever bought myself a beauty advent calendar.  There are so many on the market now so it's hard to know which are good value for money and which will just fill your draws with unusable samples. I know the whole point of an advent calendar is to have a surprise everyday in the countdown to christmas but I personally think the advent calendars which tells you what your going to receive are the best ones because then you'll know for sure if you will actually use the products or not.

If you saw my post in October you will know how many calendars were available and the crazy prices some of the were sold at.  I went for the You Beauty Discovery advent calendar which was one of the most affordable calendars on the market. Priced at £49.95 + £4.95 p&p the advent calendar claimed to be worth £240.

I was actually really impressed with the You Beauty calendar and would recommend getting one if they make them again next year. The calendar came packed with a variety of different beauty related products ranging from high end brands to some more affordable brands. I found that it was a great way for me to try out some brands that I wouldn't normally pick up either because they are too expensive or because I had never heard of the brand before.

My best picks from the calendar were the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer which came in a really great luxury sample size, the Essie Hor d'oeuvres nail varnish which was great for the party season and Aromatherapy Associates candle which are usually really expensive so it was a real treat to get this cute travel sized one.
