My Little Box Diane Von Furstenberg

My second My Little Box to arrive was the Diane Von Furstenberg box. Themed around the famous designer famed for her wrap dress designs in the 70's. I was again very happy with the box and it's contents My Little Box is defiantly work subscribing to.

This months print features a lovely illustration of Diane.

The box contained a mix of fashion/lifestyle pieces and as well the usual beauty bag containing three products. Being a DVF themed box the fashion pieces I received was a lips (the DVF logo) pin badge   and a scarf. I believe the scarfs came in a variety prints all of which are famous patterns designed by Diane herself.

The beauty bits this month were a L'Occitane hand cream mini in Vanilla Bouquet, a mini can of Kerastase hair spray and a bottle of My Little Beauty Eau Micellaire Demaquillante (Micellar Cleansing Water in English). I have used L'Occitane hand cream before so am happy with this travel mini as it will be convenient to carry in my handbag. The hair spray I'm not that fussed about, I'm not a massive hair spray user but a mini can is always good to have. The thing I'm most looking forward to using from this box is the Micellar Cleansing Water, I have never actually used a cleansing water so I'm interested to see how this performs when being used to remove makeup. I will do a full review on it once I have had a chance to use it several times.

Birthday Beauty Wish List

October is nearly over which means its almost my birthday! Yay, even though I will be 22 this year I still get as excited as if I was a little. I thought I'd share with you my beauty wish list of things I'm asking for this year. I do have to admit that I have expensive taste and I don't expect to get all of these items but I hope for at least one (hint, hint Tom)

1. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution - Amazing Grace
I have heard only good things about the new Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks. They leave the lips with a lovely matte finish that doesn't look drying or flakey. This looks like a lovely suitable your lips but so much better shade which could be warn one a daily basis.

2. Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette - The Uptown Girl
qAnother beautiful Charlotte Tilbury product which I really can't resist, this eyeshadow quad has four beautiful shades to all you to create the perfect smokey eye look. Worn with the Amazing Grace lipstick I think this would be the perfect birthday makeup look.

3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
Do I need to explain why I want this? I think the packaging alone sells the product. Containing three blushes this palette is every beauty junkies dream.

4. Zoeva Rose Gold Luxury Set
This rose gold brush set comes in a handy travel bag which means it will be ideal for me at the moment because I leave the house so early that I have been doing all my makeup on the train. I am currently using a tiny travel set which does an ok job but I can't really apply my makeup as I'd like to.  I have read reviews on these brushes and only heard good things. This set comes with a lovely mix of sizes and has a brush for every part of the face.

Product Empties

Over the past few months I've been making myself use up all my nearly finished makeup and fragrances. I have a habit of not using up products and just opening new ones and then find myself with a makeup bag full of almost finished mascaras, powders and foundations.

1. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
This was a great foundation for the summer, it's light weight on the skin so didn't feel cakey even when applied over suncream. The foundation gives a light to medium coverage which is easily buildable. I wore it as a light coverage as I think it looks best when applied in a light layer on my skin. I don't think I would repurchase this because I have found other foundations now which I prefer but it is a good product and is very reasonably priced.

2. DKNY Be Delicious Fragrance
One of my all time favourite scents, I used to wear DKNY Be Delicious everyday until I discovered Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume. The scent is very fruity and sweet so if you are into sweet scents it would be ideal. It is more of a daytime/ summery perfume then one you would wear in the evening.

3. Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara
I received this in a beauty box and at first I didn't really like the brush. Once I got the hang of using it however I found it was a really good mascara, it's great for building volume and giving length to lashes. I would repurchase this again because I was happy with the final effect. The product itself also lasted a long time without drying out in the tube.

4. Benefit They're Real Mascara
This is a cult product and the second tube I have used up. The formula of this mascara is great for giving length and volume to your lashes. There are two minor problems I find with this mascara the first is that it dries up quite quickly so I seem to always get through the tubes quickly, the second is that it is a pain to get off. You need a really good quality eye makeup remover to get it to even budge.

5. Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara
I was pleasantly surprised by this mascara. I haven't tried any other Clarins makeup products and only got this one because it came in a set I was given last christmas. The formula of the mascara is very wet and at first I found it hard to work with as I would just smudge it everywhere. But once I got used to it I found it was great for building length without clumping. The one thing you have to be careful with is not closing your eyes too much while applying your mascara because if its still wet it spreads all over your eye area and makes you resemble a panda.

Out of these three mascaras I would recommend the Clarins one. If you like super long but natural looking lashes its a winner. It is also easy to remove with eye makeup remover but won't smudge or come off throughout the day.

7. Jo Malone

Now this is the most luxury and lustable advent calendar if I have ever seen one. Containing a mix of mini fragrances and body lotions this calendar is a girls dream gift. Jo Malone fragrances are designed to be layered so you can create your own personal scent, this will allow you to do just that.

Priced at a massive £250 this calendar is available from Harrods from the 20th October and nationwide from the 10th November.

There is a calendar available for every kind of beauty junky and if your anything liked me you'll be putting your name down on waiting lists to make sure you can secure one for yourself.

However if you can't get your hands on one of these calendars why not make one of your own?
There are some great empty calendars available, which you could stuff with your favourite minis or even convince someone else to fill it up for you.

Here is my favourite calendar I've found online and have purchased, with the plan to fill with treats for my family. The best part of buying an empty one means you can also reuse it every year!

My Little Parisienne Box

A new monthly beauty box has been launched in the UK. Originally available in France only My Little Box has finally hit British shores. This box differs from your usual beauty box in the way that in contains beauty items as well as a variety of other things.

The first box was the My Little Parisienne Box, which as you can probably guess is themed around Paris and Parisienne style. Each month your 'My Little Box' has a different theme. Past boxes have been Party, Dolce Vita and Sunset.

When my box arrived I was immediately impressed the packaging is beautiful. The box has its contents have watercolour illustrations which give the box a unique selling point.

The first box contained a selection of wonderful goodies:
- A little postcard which you'd be happy to put in a frame and display
- A notebook, which contains information about the company as well as having plenty of space for your own notes
- A laptop case which fits a Mac 13" which is a shame because my laptop doesn't fit but ill find another use for it.
- Some little stickers
- A cotton beauty sample bag

Inside the little cotton bag was three makeup/ beauty samples. This included one of the My Little Boxes own brand product from their My Little Beauty range. The samples I got were:
- Laura Mercier foundation primer
- Nuxe magnificent oil
- My Little Beauty Stylo Lumiere which is a highlighter pencil similar in style to the YSL touché eclat.
All samples are a generous size which means you can really get a good idea what the products are like. The My Little Beauty product appears to be full sized which is great.

So far I am really impressed with the My Little Box and I am looking forward to future box deliveries. The subscription price is £11 a month plus £3.95 p&p which is on par with all other monthly box subscriptions. As with the other companies who run beauty boxes you can buy gift subscriptions.

September Favourites

September has flown by, I started a new internship and have been having to get used to the commuter lifestyle. Having to leave the house everyday by 6:30am to make it into work on time has been a bit of a shock to the system but I have been perfecting a new morning routine so that I can maximise sleeping in time. This months favourites are things that have made my new busy lifestyle a little more pleasurable.

This month I have been loving mainly all my new product purchases, apart from my old favourite fragrance.

Starting off my favourites I have Monkey Balm. This was something that I picked up whilst traveling in Thailand on recommendation by our guide. It is a very thick hard balm which can be used on practically anything. I have been applying it to my temples and forehead whenever I have a headache and the balm gives a gentle cooling effect which helps relieve any tension. It smells of menthol but I have no idea what it actually contains because all the writing is in Thai. A similar product which is available here in the UK is Tiger Balm which is available all over the place.

My second favourite this month has been the balmi lip balm cube. I got this in my goodie bag from the Cosmopolitan Fashion Awards and haven't been able to put it down since. Its a lovely menthol flavour which leaves your lips a little tingly (in a good way).

Next is my very exciting new purchase from Tarte. I managed to get my hands on this foundation brush and the liquid foundation on ebay for a reasonable price. The brush is incredible it leaves your foundation looking as if you have airbrushed it onto your face. I haven't touched any of my other foundation brushes since even my Real Techniques one which I loved.

I won't ramble on about the Daisy by Marc Jacobs fragrance because I have already done a full review on it but I have recently been using this everyday to prolong the smell of summer.

I have two fashion related favourites this month which are my PS I Love You ring from Anna Lou of London and the Cosmopolitan Fashion issue. I have worn the ring practically everyday this month because I think its cute and adds some suitable sparkle to outfits. The Cosmopolitan Fashion issue was released this month and is jam packed with amazing photography and outfit inspiration. It is an extra large publication so makes a stylish coffee table magazine.

Sephora Top 5 Wish List

At the end of October my dad and brother are going on a short trip to America so I thought it was a perfect opportunity to pick up some Sephora goodies. Unfortunately I can't go out to America myself but I have spent many hours reading reviews of the best products to get. Here are my top picks:

1. Sephora Favourites Give Me More Lip
Do I need to explain why I want to get my hands on this? Featuring 17 of the best selling lip products this is a great way to try out new brands and new shades of existing favourites.

2. Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil
I have recently got into Tarte products. Unfortunately living in the UK it is hard to get hold of the whole range but I have heard this is a great pre makeup skin prep. It is defiantly something I want to try out.

3. Formula X The System
Raved about across both blogs and YouTube this seems to be the next best thing to gels. Supposedly long wearing this is defiantly a system I want to try out.

4. Tarte The Sculptor Contouring Face Slenderizer
First seen one on of Amelia Liana's YouTube videos, this looks like a super easy way to contour your cheeks without looking overly bronzed.

5. Clarisonic Mia 2 Winter Hydration Set
I have been thinking about getting a Clarisonic for a while now and to me this set looks amazing! Not only do you get the Mia 2 but it also comes with three products to help hydrate dehydrated winter skin. A definite must have on my shopping list.
